Chapter 3

²And a certain man lame from birth was being carried there, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple called Beautiful to ask for alms from those entering the temple.

³Seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, he asked to receive alms.

⁴But Peter, fixing his gaze on him with John, said, “Look at us.”

⁵He fixed his attention on them, expecting to receive something from them.

⁶But Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I have I give you: in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk!”

⁷And seizing him by the right hand, he raised him up; and immediately his feet and ankles were made strong.

⁸Leaping up, he stood and walked, and he entered the temple with them, walking, leaping, and praising God.

⁹All the people saw him walking and praising God;

¹⁰and they recognized him as the one who used to sit begging alms at the Beautiful Gate of the temple, and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.

¹¹As he clung to Peter and John, all the people ran together to them at the portico called Solomon’s, utterly astonished.

¹²Seeing this, Peter addressed the people: “Men of Israel, why do you marvel at this, or why do you stare at us as though by our own power or piety we had made him walk?

¹³The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, glorified His Servant Jesus, whom you handed over and denied before Pilate, when he had decided to release Him.

¹⁴But you denied the Holy and Righteous One and asked that a murderer be granted to you;

¹⁵you killed the Author of life, whom God raised from the dead—we are witnesses of that.

¹⁶And His name, through faith in His name, has made this man strong, whom you see and know; yes, the faith that comes through Him has given him this perfect health before you all.”

¹⁷“And now, brothers and sisters, I know that you acted in ignorance, just as your rulers did.

¹⁸In this way God fulfilled what He had announced beforehand through all the prophets, that His Christ would suffer.

¹⁹So repent and turn back, that your sins may be wiped away,

²⁰so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that He may send the Messiah appointed for you, that is, Jesus,

²¹whom heaven must receive until the times of the restoration of all things, about which God spoke long ago through the mouth of His holy prophets.”

²²Moses said, ‘The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your brothers and sisters; it is to Him you must listen in all things whatever He tells you.

²³And it shall be that every soul who does not listen to that prophet shall be utterly destroyed from the people.’

²⁴Yes, and all the prophets from Samuel and those who followed him, as many as have spoken, have likewise foretold these days.

²⁵You are the sons and daughters of the prophets and of the covenant that God gave to your ancestors, saying to Abraham, ‘And in your offspring all the families of the earth shall be blessed.’

²⁶When God raised up His Servant, He sent Him first to you to bless you by turning each of you from your wickedness.”
